The College of Business and Public Policy will celebrate the opening of the Weidner Center for Real Estate Management with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday, Oct. 25, at 5:15 p.m. on the first floor of Rasmuson Hall.

Terry Fields Recieves IREM 30 Under 30 Award
Terry Fields, Assistant Professor of Management and Marketing, recently received a 2017 Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM) 30 Under 30 Award.
Terry is the Program Director for the Weidner Property Management and Real Estate Program at the College of Business and Public Policy. He works closely with industry partners to grow the program while attracting students, preparing them for careers in real estate management, and rewarding them with placement opportunities and fast track opportunities to earn valuable industry credentials.
He is an active member of IREM and encourages all of his students to take advantage of the networking and resources IREM has to offer members. Terry also serves on IREM’s Student and Academic Outreach Advisory Board playing an important role in identifying strategies to engage students and professors in IREM.

WPMRE Movers and Shakers - Amanda Doughty
Amanda, like many Weidner Property Management and Real Estate (WPMRE) students, was seeking a career and a leg-up in the workforce. Jumping into the program with both feet, Amanda has been able to participate in multiple internships, helped found the student club, and has received academic and travel awards to attend conferences in Denver and Orlando.

WPMRE Movers & Shakers: Robert Erickson
Robert Erickson is a senior in the Weidner Property Management and Real Estate Program at UAA. He says he was initially interested in the program, because it provided a focus for him to advance in his business career. “I saw it as a great opportunity to learn about property management and real estate to then potentially invest in property,” says Erickson.

Earn Your Real Estate License…and College Credit?
Over the summer, BA A306 Real Estate Principles was approved by the AK Real Estate Commission to become an accredited “Pre-licensing Education” course. Now, students can learn about the real estate industry, earn college credit, and upon completion of this course have met the education requirements needed for an Alaska Real Estate Salesperson License.
