Designations

Professional designations communicate to employers, colleagues, and clients that you have achieved a certain level of education and experience, and that you are committed to your trade and personal development through continuous education.

Through partnerships with the Alaska Real Estate Commission, the Institute of Real Estate Management (IREM), and the National Apartment Association Education Institute (NAAEI), students can fulfill experience and/or education requirements for nationally-recognized, industry designations while completing the program curriculum.


Alaska Real Estate Salesperson License

The Alaska Real Estate License is maintained and enforced by the Alaska Real Estate Commission. Active licensees that hold their license under a real estate broker are permitted to engage in "licensed activities" such as helping an individual buy, sell, lease, or manage real estate in the state of Alaska.

NALP

National Apartment Leasing Professional® (NALP)

Maintained by the National Apartment Association Education Institute, training for the NALP designation improves critical skills such as marketing, qualifying residents, closing sales, executing lease agreements, addressing service requests, renewing leases, and more.

(WAIVED)*Education Requirements: 7 courses totaling 25 hours
(WAIVED)**Experience Requirements: 6 months of experience in the apartment industry

*By completing BA 225 – Leasing in Property Management
**By completing 6 credits of BA 395 – Property Management Internship


CAM

Certified Apartment Manager® (CAM)

Maintained by the National Apartment Association Education Institute, training for the CAM designation covers skills such as financial management, property maintenance for managers, risk management, fair housing, resident issues, market analysis and more.

(WAIVED)*Education Requirements: 9 courses totaling 56 hours
(WAIVED)**Experience Requirements: 12 months of experience in the apartment industry

*By earning a BBA Management w/Property Management and Real Estate concentration
**By completing 6 credits of BA 395 – Property Management Internship


CPM

Certified Property Manager® (CPM®)

Maintained by the Institute of Real Estate Management, The CPM® designation is the most recognized credential for real estate managers of larger portfolios, including those who manage multi-family, office, retail, and industrial properties. The designation is known and trusted throughout the industry, and earned through education and experience.

Experience Requirements: 36 months of qualifying experience
