ISER Researchers and Director deliver presentations at ACTE

The Alaska Association for Career & Technical Education (ACTE) held their annual professional development conference, Growing Stronger Together 2019, this week in Anchorage. Several presenters came from the Institute of Social and Economic Research (ISER) this year to speak on a range of topics throughout the conference.

Associate Professor of Economics Dr. Mouhcine Guettabi Published in Scientific American

The Institute of Social and Economic Research’s (ISER) Dr. Mouhcine Guettabi, Associate Professor of Economics, was recently published in Scientific American where he discussed his recent research and results on the impact of universal basic income (UBI) on childhood obesity. The article drew from a longer report which Dr. Guettabi co-authored with Drs. Brett Watson and Matthew Reimer.

Dr. Chad Briggs Talks Climate Change on KTVA

"For the military, they're really concerned about things like installations," said Chad Briggs, Director of Public Policy and Administration for the University of Alaska Anchorage's College of Business and Public Policy. "If you have installations that are built on permafrost and that's going to be melting. If you have wildfires that are going to be affecting energy lines. Whether they have to be protecting pipelines or power lines. It affects sort of how they're going to be planning for the future."
