Peak Trust Company announced this week that it is supporting the College of Business and Public Policy’s new finance lab with a $50,000 donation made possible by the Horejsi Charitable Foundation.

The First National Bank Finance Lab, located on the second floor of Rasmuson Hall, is expected to open in Fall 2023. Peak Trust’s investment will enhance the lab through state-of-the-art technology equipment, hi-tech furnishings, hardware, software, and subscription services.

“Giving back to the Alaska and Anchorage communities is deeply woven into Peak Trust,” said Matthew Blattmachr, the company’s CEO. “We are proud and honored to provide this gift to UAA.” Blattmachr noted that he and several of his Peak Trust colleagues are UAA alumni and he knows firsthand “the importance and academic rigor of this important institution.”

John Nofsinger, Dean of the College of Business and Public Policy, said that support from Peak will go a long way to bringing the dream of a high-tech finance lab to a reality. “We depend on close collaboration with the business community. The finance lab is going to provide opportunities for our students to access tools they will be using in their professional careers after they graduate. We are grateful to both Peak Trust Company and First National Bank Alaska for their generous investment. They are committed to supporting high quality financial education in the state of Alaska.”
