College of Business and Public Policy MBA student, Nikki Holmes, was a member of a team that won 2nd place in the nation and was voted the Crowd Favorite at the Fight COVID-19 Startup Weekend.

The highly skilled and diverse team is spread across the U.S. and includes medical professionals, software developers, and entrepreneurial experts. Three of the team of eight are based in Alaska and within the University of Alaska system. Two are at UAF, including one student and one employee.

Their startup is MedFoyer, a virtual physician's office waiting room in which patients can wait for their appointment from the safety of their car, thereby reducing their social contact with other patients and healthcare providers and helping to prevent the transmission of COVID-19 and other communicable diseases.

The team plans to continue working on the startup in the coming months and are excited to see if they can make an impact during these challenging times.
