Earn your Real Estate License…and college credit?

Houses

Over the summer, BA A306 Real Estate Principles was approved by the AK Real Estate Commission to become an accredited “Pre-licensing Education” course. Now, students can learn about the real estate industry, earn college credit, and upon completion of this course have met the education requirements needed for an Alaska Real Estate Salesperson License.

This change is one of many ways that the Weidner Property Management and Real Estate Program in UAA’s College of Business and Public Policy continues to strengthen learning outcomes for students by incorporating industry designations and licensing opportunities.

Beginning this fall, students enrolled in BA A306 Real Estate Principles will not only gain a thorough understanding of Real Estate, but will also fulfill the necessary education requirements for the Real Estate Salesperson License. Upon successful completion of this 3-credit course, students will be eligible to sit for the State licensing exam, having met the 40 hours of “Pre-license Education” required in Alaska.

“This course has so much to offer for so many different people. If you are interested in buying a house, selling your house, leasing property, or just looking for a better understanding of real estate practices and jargon, this course helps you become a more informed consumer. Many students will be interested in earning their license, but many others are just excited to learn from the same material and improve their confidence regarding real estate and real estate transactions” says Terry Fields, Program Director for the Weidner Property Management and Real Estate Program.

BA A306 Real Estate Principles will be offered in the spring 2016 semester. Registration opens the week of November 9, 2015.
