CBPP Student Continues Success at the ASAC Conference

On June 14th, Iuliia Chepurko presented her paper on financial restatements at the 43rd annual conference of the Administrative Sciences Association of Canada (ASAC) in Halifax (Nova Scotia, Canada). ASAC is a conference where senior and junior academics, students and business professional come together to innovate organizational management. Iuliia received very good feedback on her accounting research and she was encouraged to continue with her innovative research.

Best Student Paper Award for MBA Student Iuliia Chepurko

Iuliia Chepurko won Best Student Paper Award at the 17th Annual Academic Conference of the Society of Business, Industry, and Economics (SOBIE) in Destin, FL in April 2015. She presented her paper on financial restatements. Her research started as a class project in the fall under the supervision of Professor Han Donker and continued under Professors Gökhan Karahan and Ajit Dayanandan in the spring.

MBA Student Mario Roncador Presents his Research at Conference

Mario Roncador presented his research project at the 17th Annual SOBIE Academic Conference in Destin, FL in April 2015. He examined whether variations in marketing expenses predict business cycles. He used quantitative data from Compustat over a time period of 60 years. His research started as a class project in the fall under the supervision of Professor Han Donker and continued under Professor Gökhan Karahan in the spring.

Mario’s goal is to publish this project in an academic journal in the near future. This project is an excellent example of how students can be involved in research.
