Learn about business in an exciting and interactive way in our FREE academies!
- Leadership, Hospitality, Accounting / Personal Finance, Supply Chain Management, and Entrepreneurship Academies for students entering 10th-12th grade & 2024 graduates
- Accounting / Personal Finance Academy for students entering 7th-9th grade
- All day sessions from 8:30 am to 5 pm
- Check-in: 8:30 - 9:00am
- Instruction: 9:00am - 3:00pm
- Optional Activities: 3:00 - 5:00pm
- Lunch included
- Experience college life; sessions are located at Rasmuson Hall on UAA's campus

Deadline to register is May 10th, 2024.
We are offering five free academies for students going into 10th - 12th grade + 2024 graduates.
You can attend all, or pick and choose the topics that most interest you.
Academies are held from 8:30am - 5pm.

Accounting / Personal Finance Academy – May 28 with Professor Stasia Straley
Learn about accounting in an exciting and interactive way at UAA’s Accounting Summer Academy. Don’t know anything about accounting yet? No problem!
Hospitality Academy – May 29 through 31 with Dr. Amy Green
Learn how to develop business ideas and concepts in the Hospitality Industry. Hear from local restaurant owners and hotel professionals about career opportunities. Explore hospitality programs & courses at UAA. Guest speakers, demos, activities, lunch & snacks provided.
Day 1 – UAA Campus
Introduction to the hospitality industry; hotels, restaurants, lodges, cruise ships, catering.
Day 2 – Downtown Anchorage
Hotel and Restaurant tour. Walking tour of hospitality operations in downtown Anchorage. Lunch provided.
Day 3 – Downtown Anchorage
Sweet Caribou, Dirty Apron, and Fromaggios. Walking tour of hospitality operations in downtown Anchorage. Lunch provided.
Entrepreneurship Academy – June 3 through 4 with Ms. Stacy Miller
Have you ever thought about starting your own business? Maybe a side hustle?
You are not alone! Alaska’s small business sector employs 52% of people in the private workforce. Small firms produce more than half of all innovations.
In this interactive session, be prepared to be creative and innovative as we explore the steps that are key to becoming an entrepreneur
Supply Chain Management Academy – June 5 through 6 with Dr. Zhi (Vicky) Tao
This academy helps students understand supply chain management and its issues using every-day examples. It encourages students to delve into logistics and other significant topics within supply chain management.
Leadership Academy – June 7 with Dr. Terry Nelson
Can everyone be a leader? Are leaders born or developed? What does it take to be an effective leader? Join in a lively conversation about leading in today’s world.
