Larry Ross

Biography

Larry L. Ross, Professor of Economics, was raised on the picturesque and rugged south coast of Oregon and majored in economics at the University of Oregon and Princeton University. Throughout a career which began in 1968 as a teacher and coach at Oregon’s Bandon High School, he has enjoyed sharing his passion for scholarship and learning with thousands of students.

In addition to his longtime service to the University of Alaska, Professor Ross has held teaching and research appointments at the University of Oregon and Princeton University. He is the author of numerous scholarly publications including five editions of Resources for Macroeconomics and Resources for Microeconomics, and two editions of Macroeconomics: Foundations and Applications and Microeconomics: Foundations and Applications.

Beyond the world of academia, Professor Ross has served as an economic consultant to various private firms and the Alaska State Legislature. He has worked as a sports marketing and events specialist with an extensive array of companies including Adidas, Alaska Airlines, Asics, British Petroleum, Coors, and Nordstrom; and represented Nike running promotions as a coach and race director for nearly two decades. An avid outdoorsman, he is a long-serving member of the G.Loomis/Shimano fishing Pro Staff.
