Guettabi: Investing for Alaska’s Future
There are positive signs that the recession is coming to an end, with a slight growth in jobs during January and February 2019, but the recovery is fragile and will be sensitive to changes in oil prices and budget cuts, Mouhcine Guettabi, associate professor of Economics and ISER faculty told attendees at a series of Alaska Economic Summits sponsored by Northrim Bank in April.

Dr. Mouhcine Guettabi Testifies before the House and Senate Finance Committees
Perhaps the most interesting set of hearings during the week of March 4th was the House and Senate Finance Committee’s review of the projected economic impacts of the Governor’s proposed FY20 budget. The committees separately engaged economists from state agencies, the Governor’s office, and UAA’s Institute of Social & Economic Research to assess the economic impact budget cuts will have.
