Professor Mouhcine Guettabi on Alaska's Economy
Alaska lost nearly 2,300 jobs—about 1% of all wages and salary jobs— from March 2014 through March 2016. But not all areas of the state and sectors of the economy lost jobs. In a new paper, Mouhcine Guettabi, assistant professor of economics at ISER, examines jobs losses statewide and by area and economic sector. This is the first in a series of short papers that will examine various economic and fiscal issues important to Alaska.

Professor Willie Hensley to appear on KTVA Sunday, October 16
Rhonda McBride will interview Emil Notti and Professor Willie Hensley for her Frontiers program on KTVA Channel 11. The program in scheduled to air Sunday October 16 at 4:30 and 10:30pm. This is the 50th anniversary the founding of AFN and the interview will explore the formation of AFN and its legacy.

Monetary Policy, Money, and Inflation
On Wednesday, August 17th the College of Business and Public Policy will host the President of the San Francisco Federal Reserve Bank. Dr. John Williams will discuss his views on the US economy, inflation and monetary policy from 5:15 PM to about 6:30 PM in RH 101. He is especially interested in answering questions from UAA students.
