Leadership Fellows : Where Are They Now?
Two College of Business and Public Policy Alumni have gone on to achieve some great things. Xavier Mason was recently accepted to the MBA program at Oxford University in Oxford, England and Lauren Riley was recently accepted to the Research in Management Ph.D. program at the Robert Gordon University (RGU) in Aberdeen, Scotland.

Accounting Major Ana Tatafu Featured in Green & Gold
Ana Tatafu is a CBPP accounting major who traveled to Guanajuato, Mexico, last summer after winning a scholarship through the Benjamin A. Gilman International Scholarship Program, an undergraduate grant program for U.S. citizens of limited financial means that enables them to study abroad. UAA’s College of Business and Public Policy included her in this year’s cohort of 21 CBPP Leadership Fellows Program protégés, who learn about real-world leadership from mentors in the Anchorage business community. Here, Ana talks about her life, family, and the family she found here at UAA’s CBPP and the Multicultural Center.

First Student Completes the Minor in Alaska Native Business Management
The College of Business and Public Policy is pleased to announce the graduation of Amanda Sagmoen, the first student to complete the minor in Alaska Native Business Management. Amanda is a Fall 2016 BBA Finance graduate. She is the first student to complete this 18 credit minor.

Congratulations to Term Assistant Professor Sharon Guenther Lind
Congratulations to Term Assistant Professor Sharon Guenther Lind, who was elected to serve as Chairman of The Aleut Corporation (TAC) on October 17, 2016.
Sharon has served in various positions on the Board and with the TAC since 1993, including Chairman from 2006 - 2011. The Aleut Corporation is one of the twelve Alaska Native regional corporations that were established under the Alaska Natives Claims Settlement Act (ANSCA) in 1971. The Aleut region covers the area from Sand Point to Attu at the end of the Aleutian Chain and the Pribilofs.

Experimental Economics: Does Corporate Social Responsibility Pay?
Does it pay for a company to be socially responsible? Are they just giving away profits, or does social responsibility actually increase sales? You'd think the benefits were certain, given the number of companies not only engaged in it, but happy to tell us all about it. Yet economists actually report mixed results. Some companies with strong social records don't do so well economically, and some with weak social records do just fine.
