Summer 2015 China Study Abroad Course

Travel to China to visit firms, markets, agricultural fields, agencies and universities. Interact with Chinese entrepreneurs, business executives, farmers and university students in China. Learn China's economy and business models and development under a globalization framework. Explore the Chinese culture and history, for example, by touring the Forbidden City and the Great Wall in Beijing, and cruising along the Yangtze River.

Brian Franklin

CBPP Alumni, Brian Franklin (BBA Accounting ’12), serves as gonfalon bearer at UAA’s first Fall Commencement.

The gonfalon, “is a ceremonial banner with roots in renaissance Italy, and it was considered an honor to hoist the flag at community events. The same honor holds true today: the College of Business and Public Policy invited alumni Brian Franklin to return to commencement, don the robes, lift the gonfalon and guide the latest graduates into commencement.

Socially Responsible Funds and Market Crises

Socially responsible investing (SRI) has seen tremendous growth in the past couple of decades. SRI is about making investments that are consistent with one’s value system. The main three areas of interest are in environment, social, and governance concerns. However, research has shown that SRI investing does not lead to higher returns than traditional investing. In fact, returns tend to be slightly lower. This paper explores the idea that part of the popularity comes from the distribution of returns.
