Dr. Sandra G. Ehrlich Earns AFP Master Trainer Certification

Will Share Professional Development Expertise as 1 of 5 Master Trainers in Alaska

Dr. Sandra Ehrlich, CFRE, received Master Trainer certification at the Faculty Training Academy at the Association of Fundraising Professionals International Fundraising Conference in New Orleans in April 2018.

The Association of Fundraising Professionals, AFP, Faculty Training Academy graduates are experienced instructors who have attended an advanced training program in teaching and mentoring. Attendees receive comprehensive, hands-on training in adult education principles, learning styles, classroom management, and assessment.

Ensuring Professional Development Impact. “The Faculty Training Academy is AFP’s two-day “train the trainer” program ensures quality in education by providing formal training for prospective faculty and instructors of AFP’s professional development programs,” said Ehrlich.

“As the VP of Education of the AFP Alaska Chapter, I wanted to give back to the chapter and to the fundraising profession by serving as an instructor for AFP’s Fundamentals in Fundraising, CFRE Refresher, and Donor Retention professional development courses and educational workshops,” she said.

“Continued professional development is essential in the dynamic fundraising realm. There are 242 Master Trainers across the world. I am honored to be the fifth certified Master Trainer in Alaska. I look forward to sharing my fund development expertise in the classroom,” she said.

Meeting Rigorous Selection Criteria. The Faculty Training Academy eligibility requirements for selection in this prestigious program were rigorous. Candidates had to meet the following criteria:

  • Possess extensive experience in the nonprofit sector and thorough knowledge of the fundraising profession.
  • Regularly participate in continuing education in fundraising, with a minimum of 45 contact hours within the previous three years.
  • Maintain AFP membership.
  • Maintain CFRE credential.

Ehrlich plans to put her master trainer skills to work in the CBPP classroom, and by leading the next AFP workshop this fall.

One of 35 Certified Fundraising Executives, CFREs, in Alaska, Dr. Sandra Ehrlich has been an AFP member since 2001 and a CFRE since 2007. She is the AFP Alaska Chapter VP of Education, AFP Youth in Philanthropy Chair, and Co-Chair of AFP-PM—Philanthropy Matters. She is the Board President of the Friends of Talkeetna Library.

Dr. Sandra Ehrlich, CFRE is an Associate Professor of Management & Marketing in the College of Business & Public Policy. She is the Managerial Communications Course Coordinator.
