UAA Amazing Stories: Busting Criminals by the Numbers

CBPP Hosted the IRS's Adrian Project

On Friday, April 13, 2018; with Tax Day just around the corner, the IRS was on many people’s minds. Accounting students at the College of Business and Public Policy were no exception, but for different reasons than you might think.

UAA hosted the Adrian Project in cooperation with IRS Criminal Investigation. The project aims to provide college students with a firsthand look at what it’s like for IRS special agents to track the money from the crime to the criminal.

Students participated in a mock investigation that sharpened their forensic accounting skills and introduced them to interviewing, surveillance and document analysis. Students wore IRS vests and even handcuffed the faux offender.

If you think accounting is boring, think again. This learning experience was a whole lot of excitement!
